Face-tracking animatronic eyes for serious maker projects
EyeMech Epsilon 3.4 is a real-time animatronic eye mechanism designed for robotics, props, interactive installations, and engineering builds. With an on-board vision module, the eyeballs can continuously follow a human face while the eyelids blink naturally.
Why builders use it
- Real-time on-board face tracking for expressive robot eye movement
- Natural eyelid blinking for a more lifelike animatronic effect
- Compatible with the optional handheld controller
- Designed for robot heads, film props, cosplay builds, Halloween props, art installations, and STEM demonstrations
- Multiple kit levels so you can print, assemble, or start from an assembled mechanism
Choose your kit
| Option | Best for | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Print Yourself Kit | Makers with a 3D printer | 2 realistic eyeballs in your chosen color, 6 TS90MD servos, Eye Mechanism Controller Board Beta 2.0, Grove Vision AI Module V2, HD camera, adaptor, and flex cable. 3D printed parts are not included. |
| Full Kit | Builders who want all parts included | All 3D printed parts plus the electronics, servos, vision module, HD camera, controller board, and chosen eyeball option. |
| Assembled & Tested Mechanism | Creators who want a faster path to testing and integration | An assembled and tested mechanism with your selected printed part color, eyeball option, and handheld controller option. |
Technical notes
- Uses 6 TS90MD micro servos with metal gears
- Eye Mechanism Controller Board Beta 2.0 is pre-programmed for face tracking
- Grove Vision AI Module V2 requires online programming with the face recognition algorithm before use
- Recommended USB power supply: 5V, 3A
- If the handheld controller is connected, the mechanism can be controlled manually
- If the vision module is not connected, the mechanism can perform random movement
Important before ordering
This is an engineering and DIY project intended for experienced makers, robotics builders, and technical users. It may require 3D printing, assembly, wiring, online module programming, and integration work depending on the kit you choose.
